Cartier 18K Yellow Gold Pasha Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Skeleton Ref 2000

$79,980.00

This 18K Yellow Gold Pasha Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Skeleton Ref:2000 is rate 7 out of 10. Watch only.

The present lot launched in 2000 has all the hallmarks of a Gerald Genta masterpiece. Skeletonized perpetual calendars across Auedmars Piguet and his namesake brand have a similar configuration and aesthetic. Artfully housed in an impressive yellow gold case, the stunning skeletonized dial belies a grand one-minute tourbillon carriage visible to the reverse.

Designed by Gerald Genta, the Cartier Pasha made it’s debut in 1985 and became an instant sensation amongst the atelier’s clients. The design was inspired by a vintage model created by Louis Cartier especially for the Pasha of Marrakech, El Glaoui. This singular piece from the 1930’s was lost to history, and never made for commercial sale.

Gerald Genta, the designer for iconic timepieces as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, and the Patek Philippe Nautilus revived the lost Pasha design with a robust catalogue of models. It was a great departure from the firm’s existing roster of smaller dress watches. The first iterations of the Pasha from 1985 ranged from simpler time-only models to perpetual calendars, and even a rather whimsical Golf Watch.
