Datograph Up/Down “Lumen.” This is a platinum Datograph with an insane dial treatment that mixes smoked sapphire and huge sections of luminous material to create a watch is both translucent and radiant at the same time. The central dial section is made of tinted sapphire, letting you see the mainplate (with its perlage finish) and rotating date discs underneath. This isn’t just for looks though – the sapphire lets UV light through, charging up the glowing date discs even when they’re not visible. You’ll never have to worry about a dark date just after midnight. Additionally, the sub-dials for the running seconds and 30-minute totalizer, the power reserve indicator, the hour and minute hands, and even the entire rehaut, with its tachymeter scale, are luminous. This means that when the lights go out you get a dramatic look at all of the watch’s key functions. In fact, there’s nothing that this watch does that it can’t do in the dark. Technically, nothing has changed about this watch and you can admire the much-loved caliber L951.7 through the sapphire caseback.
