This IWC Portugieser 5441 is an example from the limited anniversary edition from the 1990s. Mint condition, a full set and an impressive appearance on the wrist make this timepiece so special.

In the 1930s, there was a high demand for a precise wristwatch, especially in Portugal, a country of many great seafarers and explorers. Thus, in 1939, the IWC Portugieser was developed – an oversized wristwatch with a case diameter of 42mm and a high-precision movement IWC Calibre 74. In 1993, to celebrate the company’s 125th anniversary, IWC introduced the Portugieser Ref. 5441 in a limited edition of 1000 pieces in stainless-steel, 500 in rose gold and 250 in platinum.

The reference 5441 is the exact reissue of the Portugieser from the 1940s. Large 42mm case, silver-colored dial, Arabic hour numerals, leaf hands and a sunken sub-dial for seconds – The IWC Portugieser offers a truly impressive look on the wrist.

At the heart of this watch is the flat precision movement caliber 9828, which is an improved version of the legendary pocket watch movement caliber 74 from the 1940s. Caliber 9828 also features a shock protection and hacking-seconds function. Thanks to the transparent sapphire crystal caseback we can see and admire the beautiful movement without opening the case.
